Installation & help

Lo-Fidelity80 ships as a Windows installer for the 64-bit VST3 format. Anything not covered here, write to starverbaudio.support@gmail.com.

Installing on Windows

  1. Close your DAW

    The installer cannot replace a plug-in file that is currently loaded. If Ableton Live is running, the installer stops and asks you to close it first.

  2. Run the installer

    Double-click Lo-Fidelity80-1.0.0-Setup.exe. Windows will show a User Account Control prompt — click Yes. Administrator rights are required because the plug-in goes into the system VST3 folder.

  3. Accept the license

    Read the EULA and continue. The installer is available in English and Italian.

  4. Choose the two folders

    The first screen picks where licenses and the uninstaller go (C:\Program Files\StarVerb Audio\Lo-Fidelity80). The second screen picks the VST3 folder itself — leave the default C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 unless you use a custom location.

  5. Rescan in your DAW

    Reopen your DAW and rescan plug-ins. In Ableton Live: Preferences → Plug-Ins → Rescan (hold Alt while clicking for a full rescan).

Where things end up

The plug-in bundle goes to your VST3 folder (by default C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\Lo-Fidelity80.vst3), while the license files and the uninstaller go to C:\Program Files\StarVerb Audio\Lo-Fidelity80.

What are the system requirements?

Windows 64-bit and any DAW that supports the VST3 format. The plug-in is 64-bit only.

Which DAWs are supported?

Ableton Live, FL Studio, Cubase, Studio One, REAPER, Bitwig — and any other host that loads VST3 plug-ins.

Do you offer VST2, AAX or a macOS version?

Not at the moment. The current release is VST3 for Windows only — no VST2, and no AAX for Pro Tools. Write to us if you need a specific format; it helps us prioritise.

My DAW does not see the plug-in. What now?

First, rescan your plug-ins (in Ableton Live: Preferences → Plug-Ins → Rescan, Alt+click for a full rescan). If it still does not appear, check that your DAW scans the folder you installed into — by default C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 — and that you are using the 64-bit version of your DAW.

Why does it ask for administrator rights?

The standard VST3 folder lives inside Program Files, which Windows protects. The installer needs elevation to copy the plug-in there. Nothing else on your system is modified apart from the two install folders and one registry key that records where the plug-in was placed, so the uninstaller can find it again.

Can I install it somewhere else?

Yes. The installer has a dedicated screen for the VST3 folder — point it anywhere you like. When you reinstall or update, your previous choice is proposed again automatically.

How do I uninstall it?

Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps → Lo-Fidelity80 → Uninstall. The uninstaller removes the plug-in from whichever VST3 folder you chose, along with the licenses and the registry key.

How do updates work?

The plug-in checks once a day whether a newer version is available and lets you know inside your DAW. No personal data is sent — see the Privacy Policy for details. To update, download the latest installer and run it over the existing installation; there is no need to uninstall first.
